In the third game of the 2025-2026 B-League season the team had to play the team from South Africa (who are allowed to play in Europe as they have no near Go neighbours). One game was played at the weekend and Jake's win meant the team only had to win two games on the night. As expected Victor Chow beat our board one, Damen Woo, but we won on the other two boards. This win moved the team up to seventh place. At the top Croatia became clear first by beating Ireland, with John Coutney the only Irish winner. The next match is on 13th January with UK against Austria.

The Autumn 2025 edition of the BGJ is now available for members to read in the Members' Area, with printed copies being sent out to those that receive them.

In the second game of the 2025-2026 B-League season the team had to play a strong team from Netherlands. Two games started an hour earlier than the other two and the first win went to the UK when Michael unexpectedly won a lost game. Unfortunately the other three games went the way of Netherlands and so the match was a three-one loss. This placed the team eighth, just above the relegation zone containing Switzerland and Finland. Croatia beat Switzerland and Ireland beat Belgium to both lead the table. The next match is on 9th December with UK against South Africa.

Alvina Kwok regained the British Youth Go Champion title at the British Youth Go Championship. Despite the previous winner Ryan Zhang being away at the KPMC in Korea, she still had to play well, as Hayes Lee, a player only recently arrived in the country, was playing well to only lose to Alvina and claim an open under-14 title.

In all 36 plays from 3d to 36k took part at the new venue of Lady Bay Church in Nottigham. Prizes were awarded to all on 3 or 4 wins, those with fighting spirit (no wins) and the section winners (and runners up):

Having recently been togther at the youth team tournament in China (with Lukasz Kudla), Toby Manning and Ryan Zhang met up again in Korea for the Korea Prime Minister Cup (KPMC). The event was held in mountainous Taebaek and guest of honour was Lee Sedol 9p.

For the first time ever the KPMC had an event for players aged under 16, hence why Ryan was present. A Pair Go event was held with a senior partnering with a junior to celebrate this.

In the youth event, Ryan won three games out of six to end 19th out of 28. He lost to Thailand and Romania, beat Mongolia, Spain and Denmark and finally lost to Canada. Tsai Ming Ruel of Chinese Taipei was the winner, ahead of Hong Kong and China. Top Europeans were Stjepan Medak (…
